Magnetic particle testing (MT, MPE, MPI, fluxing) is one of the oldest, most effective, safest and simplest non-destructive testing methods to detect surface defects (such as cracks, voids, pores or defects) on or directly below the surface of ferromagnetic materials.
The process is based on the physical principle that a magnetic leakage flux occurs on a surface defect during magnetization, on which the smallest magnetic powder particles accumulate and thus make the defect visible. The abbreviation MT comes from the English name Magnetic Testing.

Ultrasonic testing is a very universal, non-destructive testing method that can be used on all sound-conductive materials and with which not only material defects on the surface but also inside the test object can be detected.

Fluorescent magnetic particle testing
- Consumables and equipment for fluorescent magnetic particle testing: The fluorescent magnetic particle test is easy to use and offers the highest display sensitivity. However, it can only be carried out in a darkened test environment with the aid of a UV lamp. Fluorescent magnetic powder testing media are available in powder form and as an aqueous or oily suspension.
Black and white magnetic particle inspection
- Consumables and equipment for Black and white magnetic particle inspection: the black and white magnetic particle test has the advantage that it can be carried out outdoors in daylight. For this purpose, the area to be tested is coated with a very thin, white background and, after drying, magnetized while a black magnetic powder test medium is applied.
Hand magnets
- Hand magnets are used to magnetize smaller test sections.
